Equipment

  • 1 Grill
  • 1 Basting brush
  • 1 grilling tongs
  • 1 Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets about 6 ounces each
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 bunch green onions for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Prep Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  • Marinate Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in the marinade and let them sit for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat Grill: Heat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • Grill Salmon: Remove salmon from marinade and grill each side for about 6 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  • Thicken Sauce: While the salmon is grilling, pour the remaining marinade into a small pan, add cornstarch mixture, and bring to a simmer until thickened.
